I agree of all what you said.
Allah should not invloved in our fun talking but by respect. Allah our creator and we should not treat him like that any how.
we beg Allah mercy for egypt to get out of this weakness to be strong as it was in Sadat era.
Sadat is one the best who lead Egypt even with some mistakes actualy big mistakes like peace with isreal and mis choose of vice president. but he still my fav president

ghada game3 point of view

i agree with you all, it is totally unacceptable to underestimate GOD like that, whatever were goals or objectives meant by.
we believe that GOD has the absolute power and ability to do whatever he want whenever he want, no creature not only just a human can refuse or stop god's will whatever authority he has.
in addition we believe that the angel of death is one of god's slaves who executes god's orders as it is without modification, so if GOD ordered that some one must die, then the angel of death will take his soul and no one can stop that.
finally we believe that god is the greatest and most powerful of all.

These are jokes

You are reading too far into them. I am not religious so they seem funny to me and I really can care less if God is mentioned or not.

Acceptable

How about this one? Is this acceptable:

A man walking along a California beach was deep in prayer when all of a sudden he said aloud, "Lord grant me one wish". The sky clouded and a booming voice said, "Because you have tried to be faithful I will grant you one wish." The man said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over anytime I want to."

The Lord answered, "Your request is very materialistic. Think of the logistics of that kind of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time to think of another wish, a wish you think would honor and glorify me".

The man thought for a long time and finally said, "Lord, I wish that I could understand women. I want to know what they feel inside, what they are thinking when they give me the silent treatment, why they cry, what they mean when they say 'nothing', and how I can make a woman truly happy?"
After a few minutes God said, "How many lanes did you want on that bridge?"

If he created everything in the world then he created this...

Joke:
This fellow was climbing a tree when suddenly he slipped. He grabbed a branch and was hanging there. After an hour or so passed, he was feeling exhausted. He looked up to the heavens and cried out: "God, help me, please, help me."

Suddenly the clouds parted and a deep voice resounded, "Let Go!"

The guy paused and looked up at heaven once more, and said: "Is there anyone else up there?"

Not all Egyptian

There's deference between joke and rudeness, I liked some of these jokes but others are so stupid. Some comments reflect the hate of their authors to Egypt and Egyptian people.

Have some sense of humer

Most of the past comments are not talking about the main issue of the crocket system in Egypt; instead you are concentrating about one joke that mentioned God. Why don't you want to face the issues THE MAIN ISSUE, which is that Mubarak does not care about the Egyptian people and WE yes I say WE because I am one of you, don't care enough about the country to make a change. JUST THINK YOU GUYS AS A NATION SINCE 1952 WE HAD THREE PRESEDINTS, Don’t you think we have in Egypt more the three people that can manage the country. I guarantee you that Toyota CEO or IBM CEO Can run the country better than our sad experience with our leaders. Think you guys think and see the BIG PICTURE. By the way on 1952 Dwight Eisenhower was the American president and he was the 34th president, Obama is the 44th president.

meh

Some of these jokes are funny (kind of)... but there's a couple of points that should be made:

The Azrael/torture joke is disrespectful to God - not Mubarak. Humor is one thing, but mocking the Lord in such a way is unnecessary.

The Sadat-Carter joke is straight up racist (not to mention, unoriginal). Is the implication that there's more thieves who are in Egypt than there are in other places? I doubt that. Ever been to New York City?
Plus: I heard the joke years ago being told about an eastern European country.

Finally, Foreign Policy should get a grip on what it publishes. This is a magazine/website I respect and regularly read. It's one thing to read some of your bloggers being cute (talking to you Rothkopf); completely another thing to read jokes on a serious foreign policy website. Please don't go down that road.

So many humourless muslims making comments about jokes

How about this one:
God granting miracles
A religious man is on top of a roof during a great flood. A man comes by in a boat and says "get in, get in!" The religous man replies, " no I have faith in God, he will grant me a miracle."

Later the water is up to his waist and another boat comes by and the guy tells him to get in again. He responds that he has faith in god and god will give him a miracle. With the water at about chest high, another boat comes to rescue him, but he turns down the offer again cause "God will grant him a miracle."

With the water at chin high, a helicopter throws down a ladder and they tell him to get in, mumbling with the water in his mouth, he again turns down the request for help for the faith of God. He arrives at the gates of heaven with broken faith and says to Peter, I thought God would grant me a miracle and I have been let down." St. Peter chuckles and responds, "I don't know what you're complaining about, we sent you three boats and a helicopter."

Egypt's long-serving dictator

Mubarak won elections recently for another term, but all opposition in Egypt boycotted the elections because his regime has laws, regulations, and a process in place that only he can be elected. But with the full support of the U.S., Israel, and Europe who bows to the U.S. interests, Mubarak will stay in power - until death do him apart. And, worst for the Egyptians, he has been grooming his son to take over. It is a "deja vu" of North Korea's Kim Jong-il who just assigned hin son Kim Jong-un to inherit his post.media jobs Sydney
