January 25 marked the one-year anniversary of the Egyptian uprising that overthrew the dictatorship of President Hosni Mubarak, and tens, possibly hundreds, of thousands of people made their way to Tahrir Square, the epicenter of the revolution. The celebration was one of the largest gatherings there of the past year. Not all of those gathered were there to celebrate, however. In the square itself, a debate raged over whether the rally was congratulatory or a call for reform.
