Rémi Ochlik, a French photojournalist, was killed on Feb. 22 by Syrian government shelling in the opposition stronghold of Homs. Ochlik, who was 28 years old, had already distinguished himself as one of the best conflict photographers of his generation, winning a 2012 World Press Photo prize for his work in Libya.
