It's not easy being Yemen's second-biggest rock band. Sure, there are the adoring, niqab-clad groupies and the crowds of revolutionary fans, but  as Gaar Adams writes for FP, "Yemen's turmoil has conspired to create a set of problems that, it is fair to say, rock stars like Mick Jagger were never forced to contend with on their rise to fame." Here's an inside look at 3 Meters Away, one of the most popular Yemeni bands to emerge during the Arab Spring, as they make their way through Yemen's burgeoning rock scene.

Above, one of the tables in the band's mafraj -- or Yemeni living room -- filled with cigarette boxes and notebooks full of half-written songs.
