Dongguan: This manufacturing hub is home to the world's largest shopping
mall, a 9.6 million-square-foot vanity project built by homegrown billionaire
Hu Guirong. Today, it sits largely empty. Designed to be the world's largest mall, with space for fun fairs, hotels, and luxury residences amid more than 1,500 stores, the complex failed to attract the necessary foreign investment.
