Four more years for Obama, austerity protests blaze across Greece, and China's 18th Party Congress begins.

NOVEMBER 8, 2012

Thousands of opponents of President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner gathered in middle- and upper-class neighborhoods around the Argentine capital and other cities, banging cooking pots in a noisy protest (called a "cacerolazo") against Kirchner's bid to run for a third term. Kirchner, 59, is currently barred by the Argentine constitution from running for a third consecutive term, but her supporters in Congress have been lobbying for a constitutional amendment allowing her to make a bid for reelection.
