For nearly a decade, one man has ruled Russia. Marked by scandal, enormous oil profits, and confrontation with the West, Vladimir Putin’s tenure has been nothing if not dramatic. A look back at some of the moments that defined his presidency.

A Man to Rule Russia: Respected by his contemporaries, feared by his enemies, and by all accounts a brilliant and calculating politician, Vladimir Putin is the most powerful Russian politician of his generation. The Russian constitution requires Putin to step down in March. But many expect this man will continue to dominate Russian politics for years to come.
