Photo Essay: Pakistan's New Homeless

No turning back? Women walk toward the registration center at the Jalozai IDP camp on Feb. 21. It allows for the imposition of sharia in Swat, and on March 18, sharia courts began hearing cases. Critics worry that the government has given in to extremists. "The deal is a disaster," Talat Masood, a retired lieutenant general of the Pakistan Army Corps, wrote on ForeignPolicy.com. Sadly, it looks like the people of Swat will have to choose: Taliban or tents.
